Late summer in the Dandenong Ranges is abundant and generous.
Harvest Nights at The General Food Store is an à la carte celebration of hyper-local produce grown across the Dandenong Ranges, the Yarra Valley and regional Victoria. Throughout the menu below, the bolded ingredients highlight what’s been grown, harvested and crafted here in the hills — from local tomatoes, basil and silverbeet to rosemary, garlic and garden herbs. You’ll also find local favourites including Chieftain’s smoked trout, Meredith feta, hazelnuts and Beewise honey.
Expect smoky eggplant, padrón peppers, cime di rapa and apple mint, Victorian lamb prepared in the style of Abbacchio alla Romana, and desserts created around strawberries, rhubarb, blueberries and late summer plums. A unique opportunity to sample what’s growing just down the road.
Every Friday and Saturday evening throughout March, we open our doors from 5pm to welcome you for an unforgettable dining experience celebrating the rich and diverse flavours lovingly grown by our local producers, and crafted by our own Paul ‘Dougie’ Douglas.
